Assessment of Eye Movements in Stroke Patients and Closed-loop Intervention 123 (EMS 123)

The current study evaluates first the assumption that eye-movements during free viewing behavior are potential biomarkers of visuospatial deficits in stroke population. Second, it assesses the feasibility of a novel visual exploration training to ameliorate visuospatial deficits, by exploiting an auditory biofeedback system coupled with online parsed fixations. 123

Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Training Using Brain-Machine Interface Biofeedback in Stroke Patients With Hemiplegia

In phase 1 study investigators will evaluate the feasibility of BMI on chronic stroke participants. 5 sessions of BMI-assisted occupational therapy (OT) will be performed and the Fugl Meyer Assessment-Upper Limb (FMA-UL) score change between the pre-treatment and post-treatment will be analyzed by paired t-test.

Multimodal Instrumented Assessment of Post-stroke Elbow

The proposed clinical trial will employ the NEUROExos Elbow Module (NEEM), an active robotic exoskeleton, for the passive mobilization and active training of elbow flexion and extension in 60 sub-acute and chronic stroke patients with motor impairments (hemiparesis and/or spasticity) of the right arm. The study protocol is a randomized …

Effect of Brain Stimulation on Stepping Performance in Stroke Survivors and Healthy Adults

This in turn may significantly impact the recovery of motor function in stroke survivors. In addition, the investigators also want to know how a healthy person learns this new leg task and see if her/his learning pattern differs from a stroke survivor.

Effect of Lower Limb Exproprioception Training in Virtual Environment on Locomotion Performance in Stroke Patients

It was hypothesized that the experimental group would be able to place the foot closer to the target when stepping and have more symmetrical gait. So far, 22 stroke patients completed the experiment. Preliminary results support the hypothesis. This project is still ongoing.
