Draft - This study investigates the impact of stress management on breast cancer patients, specifically focusing on the Pythagorean Self-Awareness Intervention. Stress, which can lead to changes at the cellular level, may affect how well cancer treatments work. The study will look at how managing stress can influence telomere length in T-leukocytes, a type of white blood cell, after patients have completed all cancer treatments except hormonal therapy.
Participants will be asked to fill out questionnaires about their stress and lifestyle, provide hair samples to measure cortisol (a stress-related hormone), and give blood samples to study the telomere length in their T-leukocytes. This research aims to understand the role of stress management in improving health outcomes for breast cancer patients.
- Who can participate: Women diagnosed with primary breast cancer who have completed all treatments except hormonal therapy are eligible. Participants should not have any psychiatric diagnoses, metastasis, or previous involvement in stress management studies, and must be able to read and write in Greek.
- Study details: Participants will engage in the Pythagorean Self-Awareness Intervention after completing cancer treatments (excluding hormonal therapy). They will complete stress and lifestyle questionnaires, provide hair samples for cortisol analysis, and give blood samples to examine telomere length in T-leukocytes. An inactive substance that looks like the investigational medicine/vaccine but does not contain any medicine may be used as a placebo if applicable.
